At Beautologie, we offer a wide range of cosmetic laser services that can address many of our patients’ needs and concerns.  Laser technology is a safe way to remove unwanted hair, tattoos, and unsightly veins.  It can also be used to fade new red scars or stretch marks, or even just give your skin a younger and healthier look through IPL, or Intense Pulse Light, treatments. 

What is amazing about laser technology is its ability to be used in many facets and for many problems.  At Beautologie, we strive to use the latest techniques in order to provide you with superior results with a minimum of discomfort.  Our laser services include:

Hair Removal

We use the Lightsheer Duet Diode Laser System for hair removal at Beautologie.  This innovative system has revolutionized the process by using targeted flashes of light to block the follicle’s ability to grow.  The Lightsheer system allows your laser specialist to treat large areas quickly and effectively while leaving the surrounding tissue undamaged. 

Tattoo Removal

We see patients everyday who have second thoughts about their tattoos, and want to change their image by having them removed.

We have one of the only dedicated tattoo removal devices in Bakersfield—the Q-switched Nd-Yag laser.  With this system, we are able to lighten or completely remove your tattoo over time.  We can also remove a portion of your tattoo if you desire (like a name).

Vein Removal

Many patients complain about veins they have acquired over the years, sometimes as a result of pregnancies or long periods of sitting at a desk.  We are able to treat veins less than 3mm in size.   The laser is “pulsed” at the desired area, which breaks up the veins.  We use a system with a cooled tip which minimizes discomfort and prevents side effects. 

IPL Treatments

IPL Treatments are a way to help your body counteract the effects of aging.  Using this method, we are able to treat a variety of common conditions, like photo-aging, age spots, and the side effects of vascular changes.  We can use the system to help fade red scars and new stretch marks.  Additionally, IPL works as a treatment for hyperpigmentation (which causes red or purple coloration) and excess melanin (which causes brown coloration). 

About the Procedures

Laser treatments can vary widely depending on the type of treatment needed, the size of the area to be treated, the complexity of the issue, and the patient’s individual skin characteristics.  Regardless of which laser services you choose to have, your specialist will devise an individual treatment plan designed based on your specific needs, concerns and characteristics. 

Hair removal treatments can last anywhere from a few minutes to more than an hour, depending on several factors.  These include the size of the area you want treated, and your skin and hair.  Patients have the best results when the treatments are repeated several times in order to catch all follicles in the growth phase. 

The Q-switched Nd-Yag system used for tattoo removal focuses an intense beam of light at your undesired tattoo, which then breaks up the ink into tiny fragments.  Your body can then absorb these fragments during its natural cleansing process.  The treated area scabs over after each treatment, and then the scab falls away after a few days.  You will likely require multiple treatments to achieve your optimum results.

At Beautologie, we can use laser technology to remove several different kinds of bothersome and unsightly veins.  If you have rosacea, we can seal off the spider veins, which controls flushing and redness.  Facial veins are targeted with the laser, and the result is that they dissipate, resulting in a clearer, more beautiful, face.  If you have angloma (the small “drops of red” that can appear on the body, often on the chest), laser vein removal can help.

Finally, our IPL treatments are designed to treat scars or stretch marks, or to enhance our patients’ beauty.  For example, the appearance of new, reddish scars can be significantly lessened using IPL, which dilates and breaks blood vessels.  This lightens the scar over time, returning it to your natural skin color.  IPL is a safe treatment that treats only the targeted areas while leaving the surrounding tissue intact.  You may experience some bruising or redness, however, though these typically fade soon. 

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Because each patient is an individual, with unique needs, the number of treatments each patient requires is different.  Your treatment schedule will be carefully designed by one of our laser specialists and will depend on your desires as well as your medical history and skin characteristics.  Most conditions require several treatments to achieve the best results.  Each specific treatment, though, has an average number of treatments, which can help you in planning:

Laser hair removal treatments are most effective when they are done during the active growth phase of the follicle.  However, follicles will never be in the same growth phase at the same time, so you will likely need 5-6 visits to achieve a smooth, hairless look.

The number of treatments needed to remove a tattoo depends on a number of factors, including the size of the tattoo, as well as the ink colors.  In general, if your tattoo has blue or black ink it will fade more quickly than lighter colors like orange or yellow.  You should plan on 5-6 treatments that are approximately 6-8 weeks apart. 

During laser vein removal, we find that many veins will completely disappear after one session, while some veins will only partially respond to the laser.  If you are having laser vein removal, you will likely need 2-3 treatments that are approximately 6-8 weeks apart.  

The number of IPL laser treatments can vary greatly depending on what condition is being addressed.  For example, if you dislike your new stretch marks, several sessions will be necessary in order to fade them as much as possible.
